Buhler MB Church is seeking a Family Ministries Pastor.


The priority for this position is to advance discipleship in our community of children and youth. While we, as a church, have history and tradition in children’s and youth ministry, the Family Ministries Pastor will have latitude in his/her approach and methodology in accomplishing this priority within the ministry and program. As our culture and churches continue to change, we recognize that new paradigms and “outside the box” thinking will be necessary to effectively reach and minister to the next generations. In addition, while there will be some expectations and responsibilities for this position, Buhler MB will encourage the Family Ministries Pastor to work, learn and grow within his/her specific strengths, gifting and calling.


Expectations and Responsibilities



Has a vibrant and growing relationship with Jesus

Is biblically qualified for church leadership (1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, 1 Peter 5)

Agrees with our church and Mennonite Brethren conference statement of faith

Is enthusiastic about the Buhler MB mission and vision

Is relational and pastoral




Partner with parents in discipling their children by training and encouraging

Oversight of Buhler MB’s ministry to birth through high school

Recruit, equip and develop a team of volunteer leaders

Maintain regular ministry programs (e.g. weekly) for children and youth (direct involvement as necessary and available)

Build relationships with children, youth and their parents for the purpose of discipleship Function as a member of the Buhler MB staff (attend staff meetings); be a team player: support a comprehensive church ministry

Meet regularly (weekly) with the lead pastor

Remain accountable to the elders of Buhler MB including meeting attendance as requested




Buhler MB is open to varied levels of education, training and experience

Experience in church ministry is preferred

We value seminary training & will support pursuit of a seminary degree


The Town of Buhler

Buhler is a town in Kansas of approximately 1300 residents located 12 miles NE of Hutchinson (population: 40,000) which is the county seat of Reno County; Wichita is about 40 miles SE. Surrounded by farm land, much of Buhler’s business and commerce is rooted in the agricultural industry. A tech company (high speed internet) and a graphic design company have headquarters in Buhler. There are also a variety of goods, services and restaurants available in Buhler. Recreation options include two city parks, swimming pool, a rec center and ball field complex. The school district draws from parts of Hutchinson so Buhler high school is large for a small town (4A), the middle school is between Buhler and Hutchinson and the district has three elementary schools, one in Buhler.

Buhler MB

Buhler MB (Mennonite Brethren Church) is a well-established member of the U.S. Conference of Mennonite Brethren Churches. We seek to merge our traditional history with contemporary ministry. Our mission: To glorify Christ by loving God, loving others and making disciples through the power of the Holy Spirit. Our vision: To intentionally transform communities through Christ.


Our worship services are casual and include contemporary music with praise band. Current Sunday morning attendance averages 160. Our facility includes a full-size gym with a walking track and additional rooms, including youth rooms and game room. Mid-week ministry (Wednesdays) includes meal, kid’s program, youth groups, adult prayer. Past worship services may be viewed on this website.
