Prayer Letter
Dear Church Family,
The Christian’s most powerful resource is our communion with God through prayer. James 5:13-16 says we are to pray. In verse 13 it says to pray when we are in trouble or when we are happy. He goes on to say in verses 14 and 15 that the members of Christ’s body should be able to count on others for support and prayer, especially when we are sick or suffering. In verse 16 James says that the prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
The church council has been spending much time in prayer for our church. We feel that the results of prayer are often greater than we thought were possible. Because God’s power is infinitely greater than ours, it only makes sense to rely on it; especially because God encourages us to do so. We are encouraging individuals to continue to pray during their private devotional times. We can pray in group settings as well. This can be in Bible Studies, Sunday School classes, 20/20 groups or wherever 2 or 3 individuals are gathered.
We would also like to offer some additional ways to pray as a body of Christ. The church sanctuary will be open for individuals to come to pray and meditate between the hours of 7:00-8:00 AM Sunday through Saturday. During this time there will be praise music playing while you pray. You may want to pray individually or with others that are gathered there as well.
Another way we are calling our church body to pray is with our new Monthly PRAYER LIFELINE. For each day of a month there will be a specific person or organization we are asking you to pray for. Please pray for the person and also their involvement in Christ’s ministry.
Finally, I Tim 2:1-4 says that prayers are to be made for everyone, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all goodness and holiness. This is good and pleases God our Savior. Therefore we are asking everyone to be involved in this prayer ministry!
Yours in Serving Christ,
Church Council
